children's 1: Monday

Today was our first day of skills this week. The craft skill's candles from this morning are the best-looking ones I've seen yet this summer, and I know the campcraft skill groups had a great time roasting bannock over the fire. This afternoon, Mark, Rose and I took the Scout groups on a nature hike and and short canoe trip (about an hour). The water was quite calm, and I was really impressed with the progress of all the Scouts -- not even one canoe got stuck in the reeds!

For supper, we made pizzas in our teams. They turned out awesome! Here are the Tough Cats hard at work building their kitty pizza.

It got pretty hot this afternoon, so we bro
ught out the slip n' slide and played some water games in the field. We all did our best to drink lots of water and stay cool. Fortunately, it cooled right down just in time for campfire. I think everyone's pretty tired out after today, so hopefully we'll all get lots of sleep tonight; tomorrow's another big day!
